• Ash pollard doing very nicely

Back in January I was a little concerned about an ash tree at the top of the orchard that was developing two very distinct leaders and I could see a point in the future when the structure of the tree could well be in peril from high winds. The leverage of long outgrowing boughs and a quite distinct split down the middle between these two leaders showed an obvious potential failure zone. So, with saw in hand, I committed to my very first pollarding and, as you can see, all appears to be going very well so far.
